Our Sunset School Library is a joyful room for exploring and learning. Our librarian Bik Lam teaches every Sunset class a weekly lesson in the library. Our parent volunteer Library chair Poppy Gilman helps Ms. Lam keep the library well stocked and organized but they can use some help!
If you love being around books and you have a little time, please consider helping the Sunset library. There are several ways to volunteer:
Library Aide: Students visit the library on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Help is needed to 1) check books in and out during class visits; 2) storybook reading to kindergarten and first grade classes; and 3) re-shelve books that have been returned. Sign up for a shift here.
Library Book Maintenance: The library receives new periodicals and books regularly. We cold laminate the covers to ensure the new inventory’s life span. This job can be done weekly and at your convenience. Please check in with Ms. Lam if you’re interested.
Scholastic Book Fair: February 5-9, 2018. This happens in the library and proceeds help out the library. More details coming in January.
Used Book Exchange: March 20, 21 and 23, 2018. Details coming in March.
Library Inventory: We must scan every book in the library! This is done annually at the end of the school year. We will send out a link closer to the dates.
